The space of Libertas. Religious liberty, political liberty and liberty of knowledge

An investigation on the relations which have established themselves over 800 years between the university and religious power and between the university and political power and the discontinuous progress of spaces and areas of liberty in research and in the production of knowledge. The volume therefore aspires to investigate the impact that political and institutional choices have had in expanding or reducing the teaching and student body and in developing networks of learning and knowledge. The analysis of these data will allow a closer analysis of the spaces and areas of liberty, the actors involved and their changes over time, comparing the experience of Padua with other universities considered “havens of peace” and liberty.
